I visited the University of Chicago over the weekend. What can I say? The neighborhood is awesome, the school is beautiful, and the program is extremely impressive. Hyde Park is much less intimidating than downtown, and there is so much diversity. There are awesome bookstores, and the whole feel of the place is very intellectual. The bottom line is financing. If I can figure out the money situation, I'll probably be living in Chicago next year; if I can't, I won't. Despite that, I cannot say enough about my experiences with the University to this point. It's definitely on a whole other level. I would be extremely honored to study there.

Whew, what a view! Chicago! I'm excited by proxy. I think I authentically -lust- for Chicago. Congrats again! Good like with the financing, I can't even imagine that headache.
Thanks...I think the view from the apartment I'll be able to afford is probably of a dumpster in an empty lot...lol. The cost of both school and living in general is on a whole other level, too.
Good luck, Rachel! I certainly wish I had a magic money wand. All my positive thoughts are flowing your way.
Loans, loans and more loans. It's what us "students" all have in common. If you can do it go for it! Does anybody ever regret falling into more debt for school? Nope. I don't. Have fun in Chicago!!!
Jennifer, thanks! I've recently found out that the money is available (though it is mostly in loans, I think the program's excellence is worth it). So it's beginning to look like my next move is westward. :)
